When Bobby told me how disappointed he was that the annual 48hr Film Festival was moving to a different weekend this year, landing on the same days as our latest wedding, I was really bummed for him because I know that’s something he really enjoys doing every year. And his team, Fighting with Forks, is pretty good at what they do, having notched the BEST FILM for 2009 with their Now You’re Being Ridiculous
Well, this year Seth & Brianna’s Nashville wedding was held at Scarritt Bennett Center downtown on the first day of the event, and Bobby had to take a limited role. Well, he TOLD me was going to take a limited role with the team.
Little did I know, he ended up shooting Seth & Brianna’s gorgeous event which ended at 10:30[pm], then immediately running over to join the FWF team and taking over the reins as editor. Having only 48 hrs to conceptualize, shoot, edit and deliver the film on DVD, Bobby worked through the night and morning putting the film together into what you see here (totaling 40 hours straight without sleep!)
For their effort, The Department of Thoughts and Intentions was just honored as runner up BEST FILM, but took top billing for Directing, Cinematography, Graphics and Bobby’s portion—EDITING!
A gigantic part of what makes the modern cinematic wedding work that Feria Cinematic Imagery puts out is the amazing editing work that Bobby does after all the shooting is completed. So, I’m really blessed to work with him on the FERIA team.
King’s to you, Marko.
P.S. First person to know that last movie reference and comments on it wins….um, something.
This is so late getting up but we helped shoot this during an extremely busy part of the year so we just had no chance to get a copy to post it. However, better late than never!
Jeremy Cowart came to me last year asking if I’d help shoot capture some video for the Help Portrait events taking part later that year. I was more than excited to help out.
The shoot was directed and edited by Barry Simmons. Normally I would have edited this except I was leaving for Guatemala just a few days later. I asked Ben to come out and get some pickup shots as well. We shot everything on the 5D MkII using Canon 24-70L and 70-200L lenses. All supported by RedRockMicro gear.
Jeremy had invited all the photogs he knew in the Nashville area to come set up shop at the Nashville Rescue Mission both as a test to see how well the HP system would work and also to provide those at the mission with some amazing photos. This video is what happened during that day…
We were hired by the lovely ladies at Wedding 101 to create a promotional video to advertise on their web site. Our goal was to show how Wedding 101 makes it incredibly easy and enjoyable for brides to plan their wedding. A visit to their beautiful showroom will provide plenty of inspiration for an event—as well as help you find wedding vendors for any portion of the event, and at any price level.
Check out the video below to see our final project as well as the gorgeous space they have in Franklin:
Feria Cinematic Imagery is known for our story-based wedding cinematography, but, we have been blessed to get to work with some great companies on their promotional and marketing efforts as well. We look forward to working with more clients like this!
We were invited by Krystal Mann and Cedarwood Mansion here in Nashville to take part in a wedding style shoot. We were able to capture some great footage and was excited to work with all of those involved, especially the beautiful couple! Of course many people here in Nashville know Krystal as a very talented wedding photographer for Mint & Sage but what you may not know is her artistic ability to concept, stylize and produce a creative and elegant wedding for any couple. And anyone who has been to Cedarwood Mansion knows what amazing location it is for weddings.
We’re excited to be working with Krystal and Cedarwood and can’t wait to get this piece together. Below is a couple of screen shots.
As we mentioned in our last post, we shot Anita Renfroe’s live performance in Marietta, GA, this past Tuesday. And although there’s nothing to show just yet, we did want to give a shout out to all the production crew that helped us out and give a huge “Thank You!” to the wonderful crowd.
And of course—Anita herself for letting us be a part of the production. She really is talented and had our camera guys rolling—always amazing to see a master of their craft display their gifts.
We thought we’d also include a few pics of our camera crew—proving we really did use DSLR’s! We had nine (9!) Canon bodies (5d2 & 7d), a dozen lenses, rented/purchased 14 high-capacity, professional speed CF cards, and brought multiple sliders and jibs to get the job done.

It really was a great team—our wrap party at the local Irish pub was a good end to the project. Long days and drives to and fro—but, extremely enjoyable nonetheless. We will post again about the highlights and what we learned about this challenging project.
It’s no secret we have not been very talkative lately and for that we apologize. So to help fill the void till we have something cool and interesting to share, we thought we would just update you on what’s been keeping us from the blogging world.
The largest thing that has crossed our desks, aside from all the countless little projects we’ve been taking on, is a live shoot we’re doing for Anita Renfroe down in Marietta, GA. This has been an exciting and challenging project to take on. We are approaching this shoot very unconventionally. I’d like to give all the details but I’d rather wait till we have something to show everyone. But I can say we’ve brought on board some very talented camera operators that we’re looking forward to working with. This is a seven camera shoot… thats right, SEVEN cameras so we made sure we got the right people for the job. Just want to quickly mention besides myself and Ben, we have John Moessner, Jon Bufkin, TK McKamy, Scott Moore and Chris Adams. Assisting us is Ian Collins, Matt Eldredge and Chad Coombs.
Here is Anita doing one of her popular segments
Normally a production this size isn’t all too bad but we’re also doing the post work for the shoot and we have 14 days to fully edit this multi camera shoot into an 85 minute dvd, ready for dup and packaging! Normally I have at least 6-8 weeks for something like this so I’m going to be a little bit under the gun on this one. Fortunately I’ve enslaved Mr. Ben, who will be living in my home office for 14 days (sorry Alicia) so if we didn’t know each enough already, we will certainly know more than we probably want!
On the wedding front, things are going very well! We’re meeting with brides and gearing up for an eventful Summer and Fall. We launched our “How We Give Back” initiative aimed at involving our clients with the amazing act of giving. We not only hope it inspires our clients to continue to give but also encourage our colleagues and partnering vendors to do the same. We don’t want it to just be a Feria “thing” but hopefully a social norm that carries over to all industries.
Ben and I also got the chance to meet up with other wedding vendors at StudioWed’s newest location in Nashville for their grand opening. We ran into the likes of Phil and Mindy of Phindy Studios, Gregory Byerline and Lynette and her husband (which I’m sad to say the name escapes me right now) of McNeal Wedding Films. We had a good time hanging with other great talent in the wedding industry and checking out Studio Wed’s new location. Welcome to Nashville guys!
We also want to encourage anyone out there to go check us out at Wedding 101 down at the Factory in Franklin, TN. We have a display set up out there and Amy and Ashley are great to work with. We’ll be doing a promotional video spot for them starting next month. We’re looking forward to working with them!
Thats about it for now. We hope to have more for you guys to read up on soon!
We were thrilled when Nashville Lifestyles Magazine asked us to cover their annual Music in the City event in Nashville. Here is the video we put together for them to post on their website.
I shot some video for my friend Jeremy Cowart to help get the word out and promote the Help Portrait movement he began. Some of that work was shown on CNN.com as they interviewed Jeremy about the event this past weekend.
My partner in crime Ben even came out to help grab some footage.
Just wanted to give a quick blurb about a project I’m working on with a film team called Athentikos. Back in January of this year we took a team of sixteen crew members from all over the United States down to Guatemala to capture stories of Guatemalans giving their lives away, even risking their lives, to help their communities and their country.
We came back after spending over two weeks in several areas of Guatemala with a huge amount of footage. Over the next six months, myself, along with producer Scott Moore and assistant director Bengy Del Villiar poured over all the footage, writing out the stories and piecing the footage together.
We realized another trip down was necessary so in August of this year Scott, Bengy, J.Mac (our tech, pa and jack of all trades) and myself went back down to Guatemala for another two weeks to capture the footage needed to complete the stories.
Currently we’re in the editing phase of the project. We have more than seven terabytes of raw footage and we expect to more than double that space once the project is complete, Spring of next year. Feel free to check out the website http://athentikos.com for more info on the team, the stories and organizations featured in the film.
I’ll be writing updating the progress from time to time on the film. Till then, check out the site, the film trailers that are already live on the website, and hope you will follow the progress and even possibly contribute. How, is totally up to you. Thanks!
