This is becoming a regular thing — Nashville 48hr Film Festival

by Ben

When Bobby told me how disappointed he was that the annual 48hr Film Festival was moving to a different weekend this year, landing on the same days as our latest wedding, I was really bummed for him because I know that’s something he really enjoys doing every year. And his team, Fighting with Forks, is pretty good at what they do, having notched the BEST FILM for 2009 with their Now You’re Being Ridiculous

Well, this year Seth & Brianna’s Nashville wedding was held at Scarritt Bennett Center downtown on the first day of the event, and Bobby had to take a limited role. Well, he TOLD me was going to take a limited role with the team.

Little did I know, he ended up shooting Seth & Brianna’s gorgeous event which ended at 10:30[pm], then immediately running over to join the FWF team and taking over the reins as editor. Having only 48 hrs to conceptualize, shoot, edit and deliver the film on DVD, Bobby worked through the night and morning putting the film together into what you see here (totaling 40 hours straight without sleep!)

For their effort, The Department of Thoughts and Intentions was just honored as runner up BEST FILM, but took top billing for Directing, Cinematography, Graphics and Bobby’s portion—EDITING!

feria marko best editing film festival

A gigantic part of what makes the modern cinematic wedding work that Feria Cinematic Imagery puts out is the amazing editing work that Bobby does after all the shooting is completed. So, I’m really blessed to work with him on the FERIA team.

King’s to you, Marko.

P.S. First person to know that last movie reference and comments on it wins….um, something.

We Love Firsts!

by Marko

When I began Feria, it was important to me that we not only create something special for our clients but we also make a difference in how we conduct ourselves so that lives can be changed. And not necessarily through our projects. That’s why we created our “How We Give Back” campaign. I had a few lesser known organizations that are doing amazing work that I would love to have exposed so this was a way that we could help. All of our clients get to choose which organization they would like a portion of their proceeds to go towards, or they can choose all of them. Our clients have responded with joy and we hope that they not only just take part in picking a cause to contribute to but they learn about what that organization is about and will want to keep contributing even after their initial donation.

Hands and Feet Project

We’re excited to announce since beginning that campaign we’ve made our first donation on behalf of Kara and Jake Walker from Jackson, MS. They decided to give to the Hands and Feet Project, which cares for orphans and abandoned children all over the world.

March 2010 Update: Crazy Busy!!!

by Marko

It’s no secret we have not been very talkative lately and for that we apologize. So to help fill the void till we have something cool and interesting to share, we thought we would just update you on what’s been keeping us from the blogging world.

The largest thing that has crossed our desks, aside from all the countless little projects we’ve been taking on, is a live shoot we’re doing for Anita Renfroe down in Marietta, GA. This has been an exciting and challenging project to take on. We are approaching this shoot very unconventionally. I’d like to give all the details but I’d rather wait till we have something to show everyone. But I can say we’ve brought on board some very talented camera operators that we’re looking forward to working with. This is a seven camera shoot… thats right, SEVEN cameras so we made sure we got the right people for the job. Just want to quickly mention besides myself and Ben, we have John Moessner, Jon Bufkin, TK McKamy, Scott Moore and Chris Adams. Assisting us is Ian Collins, Matt Eldredge and Chad Coombs.

Here is Anita doing one of her popular segments

Normally a production this size isn’t all too bad but we’re also doing the post work for the shoot and we have 14 days to fully edit this multi camera shoot into an 85 minute dvd, ready for dup and packaging! Normally I have at least 6-8 weeks for something like this so I’m going to be a little bit under the gun on this one. Fortunately I’ve enslaved Mr. Ben, who will be living in my home office for 14 days (sorry Alicia) so if we didn’t know each enough already, we will certainly know more than we probably want!

On the wedding front, things are going very well! We’re meeting with brides and gearing up for an eventful Summer and Fall. We launched our “How We Give Back” initiative aimed at involving our clients with the amazing act of giving. We not only hope it inspires our clients to continue to give but also encourage our colleagues and partnering vendors to do the same. We don’t want it to just be a Feria “thing” but hopefully a social norm that carries over to all industries.

Ben and I also got the chance to meet up with other wedding vendors at StudioWed’s newest location in Nashville for their grand opening. We ran into the likes of Phil and Mindy of Phindy Studios, Gregory Byerline and Lynette and her husband (which I’m sad to say the name escapes me right now) of McNeal Wedding Films. We had a good time hanging with other great talent in the wedding industry and checking out Studio Wed’s new location. Welcome to Nashville guys!

We also want to encourage anyone out there to go check us out at Wedding 101 down at the Factory in Franklin, TN. We have a display set up out there and Amy and Ashley are great to work with. We’ll be doing a promotional video spot for them starting next month. We’re looking forward to working with them!

Thats about it for now. We hope to have more for you guys to read up on soon!

Studio Renovations

by Marko

The Feria team dedicated some time to renovating our Nashville meeting room next to our studio. In the chaos of wedding shows, client meetings, shooting and editing, we were able to scrounge some time up to get some frames up, a flat panel LCD TV and some new lighting. We though we’d upload some images to share. We already broke it in with our now newest client, Brittnay and Trenton. We are excited for their engagement and look forward to getting to know them and tell their story.

Marko Visual Weddings is now FERIA: Cinematic Imagery

by Marko

Feria Wedding Cinematography websiteThat’s right, we’ve changed our business name. After months and months of searching, developing and testing, we’re proud to announce the new company name: FERIA. In case you’re wondering, “why Feria?” The name has a few different meanings, but, in Spanish it means “Celebration” or “Holiday.” What a great way to describe capturing the moments and the personal backstory of two people who are beginning their lives together.

Along with a new name and a new identity came a new updated look to our website. We not only wanted to just change the design, but, also add some content as well. Although not totally complete, we are working to get some new images and videos up to show in the next coming few weeks.

We also wanted to let you know we have a new Facebook Page, Twitter page and Vimeo and YouTube accounts so feel free to add those to your favorites/follow/contacts which ever method is appropriate! Thanks and we look forward to hearing from you all soon!

by Marko
With the announcement of Marko Visual Wedding’s new services, we are announcing our new packages. We are exciting about these new services that are being offered and believe the details are innovative, of premium quality and offer a new level of service to wedding media.
There are many videographers out there who simply capture and edit the events of a wedding using templated editing techniques that are standard for every wedding and every couple. As storytellers, we aren’t satisfied to do any wedding the same way. Our top priority is to get to know each couple—their personalities, unique tastes, and communication style. Then we go to great lengths to make sure their story is told from a personal perspective with cinematic flare.
Multi camera coverage
Pre-wedding interview shoot
Cinema-style edit as well as full Ceremony and Reception edits.
HD web and streaming video formats ready to upload
Western Digital Media Streamer and Hard drive
All delivered in a beautiful handmade Video Giftbox, wrapped in silk cover with personalized image from your wedding
… and much, much more!
Our other packages just keep adding the features from there. Please check out our Info Page for all the details on all the packages we offer. And of course, if you would like to alter the packages in any way, we’d be happy to cater your package to your wants and needs.
